Have you read the articles in these newspapers on real estate. These come on the days when real estate section appears. HT has HT Estates and TOI has similar section.

If you notice carefully you would notice that most of their articles are written by vested interests, who instead of saying that real estate is for the purpose of living, always try to hype up the market. They will disguise opinions as facts. In short, I will definitely read these articles with a lot of salt, not just a pinch of salt :-)

A housing boom and-bust has engulfed the US financial sector in crisis. India, too, has experienced a runaway real estate boom, which in a few areas is going bust. The share prices of real estate companies have crashed. Yet, India has no mortgage crisis or financial sector crisis.

I may be renting an apartment in South Delhi soon. Looking for an idea on typical renting rates in South EX, Sarojani Nagar etc.

In US there is a substantial evidence to suggest that renting might be a better option if one knows how to use their money wisely in terms of investing. But in India where population is always increasing like crazy, does this argument hold true as well ? My initial thought is that owning is always better than renting in India ?
